When HGTV was still a brand-new network introducing itself to the country, they came to us with a bold idea: design the next HGTV Dream Home. In 1998, we did just that—with a Lowcountry cottage full of classic Southern charm. The result was the Bermuda Bluff Cottage, created specifically for HGTV’s second-ever Dream Home Giveaway.

The Bermuda Bluff became an early symbol of what HGTV would come to represent: aspirational design that still feels accessible and rooted in real life. And while the network was new at the time, the attention this home received helped set the tone for decades of dream homes to come.

The design reflects everything we’re known for—timeless Southern architecture, deep porches, regional materials, and a layout that prioritizes gathering, flow, and connection to the outdoors. After its debut, Bermuda Bluff quickly became one of our best-selling house plans, striking a chord with homeowners across the country.
It also earned a feature in Coastal Living Magazine, further cementing its place as a standout in Lowcountry design.

This HGTV Dream Home Could Be Yours (When You Buy the Plan, Of Course)
Today, the Bermuda Bluff Cottage is available as a stock plan, still as loved and livable as ever. Whether you remember it from HGTV or are just discovering it now, it remains a house with a legacy—and proof that good design never goes out of style
