Originally selected as a Southern Living Showcase House in 2003, Shadowlawn is a timeless example of Lowcountry architecture designed with purpose and place in mind. Built in the Oldfield community of South Carolina, this plan captures the easy rhythm of coastal life—with deep porches, open rafter tails, and a metal roof that nods to tradition while welcoming the breeze.

The design was part of Southern Living’s Open House series, a curated group of homes meant to inspire—and Shadowlawn did just that. Its casual elegance, strong connection to outdoor living, and thoughtful scale made it a standout then, and it remains just as compelling today.

We designed Shadowlawn to feel relaxed and livable without losing any sense of architectural richness. It’s the kind of home that welcomes you from the porch and flows seamlessly inside. With broad overhangs for sun protection and a layout tailored to family life or quiet coastal living, Shadowlawn is a true expression of our approach: intentional, place-based, and built to last.
And yes—this plan is still available. Whether you’re building in a Southern coastal community or want to bring that Lowcountry charm somewhere new, Shadowlawn continues to be a favorite in our stock plan collection.
